Kurar à l’Urban Art Fair 2025 : Présentation de l’œuvre ‘Réappropriation’

Je suis heureux de participer à l’Urban Art Fair 2025 à Paris, un rendez-vous essentiel pour les acteurs de l’art urbain.
J’y présente une nouvelle œuvre intitulée « Réappropriation », une réflexion visuelle sur notre besoin de reprendre le contrôle : des espaces que l’on croyait figés, des objets oubliés… et surtout de nos propres vies.
Dans un monde qui accélère, où tout semble parfois nous échapper, cette œuvre propose une pause. Une reconquête.

I’m thrilled to be part of Urban Art Fair 2025 in Paris — a key event for the urban art scene.
I’ll be showing a new work titled « Reappropriation », a visual reflection on the need to take back control: of places we thought were lost, of forgotten objects… and above all, of our own lives.
In a fast-paced world, where everything seems to slip through our fingers, this piece invites a pause. A quiet reclamation.

« Réappropriation »

Technique mixte sur toile, 120 x 120 cm

Dans une atmosphère grisâtre et silencieuse, un phare solitaire surgit, vestige d’un monde où il guidait les navires et sauvait des vies. Aujourd’hui, il semble abandonné à lui-même. Pourtant, il renaît : des cabanes colorées y ont élu domicile, suspendues comme des enclaves d’espoir et d’humanité.

L’œuvre de Kurar interroge avec force et poésie notre capacité à redonner sens aux choses — et à nous-mêmes. À travers cette réappropriation physique, des constructions précaires mais pleines de vie colonisent une structure oubliée. Chaque cabane, peinte dans des teintes vives et distinctes, évoque un acte de résistance intime, une volonté individuelle d’exister, de reconstruire, de réinvestir le monde à sa manière.

Mais cette métaphore architecturale va plus loin : elle parle de réappropriation morale, d’un appel à reprendre le contrôle de nos choix, de nos libertés, de notre humanité. Dans une société souvent mécanisée, déshumanisée, Kurar invite à une reconquête douce, colorée et essentielle.

À l’image de ses œuvres précédentes, l’artiste mêle ici le réalisme brut du pochoir à des touches picturales plus libres. Le contraste entre le noir et blanc dominant et les couleurs franches des cabanes incarne la tension entre le monde que l’on subit et celui que l’on peut recréer.

« Réappropriation » n’est pas qu’une œuvre, c’est une utopie en construction, une invitation à reconstruire ce qui nous a échappé — en commençant par soi.

In a grey and silent atmosphere, a solitary lighthouse emerges — a relic from a time when it guided ships and saved lives. Now, seemingly abandoned, it is reborn: colorful cabins have taken up residence, clinging to its structure like small enclaves of hope and humanity.

Kurar’s work boldly and poetically questions our ability to give meaning back — to things, and to ourselves. Through this act of physical reappropriation, fragile yet vibrant dwellings reclaim a forgotten structure. Each cabin, painted in bright, individual colors, becomes a quiet act of resistance — a personal will to exist, to rebuild, to reoccupy the world on one’s own terms.

But this architectural metaphor goes further: it speaks of moral reappropriation, a call to take back control of our choices, our freedoms, our humanity. In a world often driven by automatism and disconnection, Kurar invites us to rebuild — gently, colorfully, and necessarily.

As in many of his works, the artist blends the sharp realism of stencils with freer painterly touches. The contrast between the dominant black-and-white background and the vivid colors of the cabins embodies the tension between the world we endure and the one we can remake.

« Reappropriation » is not just an artwork — it is a vision under construction, an invitation to reclaim what has slipped from our hands, starting with ourselves.
